Gering Visitors Bureau pushing for signage updates
The Gering Convention and Visitors Bureau says signage improvements they are recommending will more easily direct visitors to Gering and area attractions. Karla Niedan-Streeks says a Visitors Bureau commitee found that gateway signs off the Scottsbluff Expressway were not Gering friendly. She says the gateway signs are not getting visitors to the downtown area or toward the Five Rocks Road and M Street intersection, where they have easy access to local attractions.
Niedan-Streeks says the group took notes and pictures, and are asking the Department of Roads and the State Highway Commission to make improvments this spring.
Niedan-Streeks says the group will also look at the possibilities for improved destination signage once visitors are in Gering and Scottsbluff. The Gering Convention and Visitors Bureau feels they can get the destination signage completed by the start of the tourist season.
