Doris Elaine Schaneman, 79, Scottsbluff
Doris Elaine Schaneman, 79, of Scottsbluff, passed away peacefully Thursday Oct. 10, 2013, at her home with family by her side.
Her funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 14, at Salem Congregational Church with Pastor Dale Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1-6 pm Sunday, Oct 13, at Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be made in her name to Salem Congregational Church, the Festival of Hope, or donor's choice. Doris was born December 5, 1933, near Bayard, NE to Phillip and Lydia (Bauer) Huck, the oldest of six children. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Scottsbluff. She received her early education at rural schools and graduated from Minatare High School in 1951. After high school Doris worked for Parker Insurance and then the Minatare State Bank. She met Conrad Schaneman Jr. and was later married on December 12, 1954, at Salem Congregational Church in Scottsbluff.
She was a homemaker, raising three children and supporting her husband with the farming and feeding operation. Doris and Con owned and operated the S&S and later S&V Lumber Co. in Minatare, NE and Guernsey, WY.
Doris worked on the election board for many years and was also a member of the Minatare Legion Auxiliary and Salem Congregational Church. She enjoyed life and loved her family, friends and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family gatherings, cooking, baking, and shopping were her favorites.
Survivors include her son Steve Schaneman of Gering and his children Luke Schaneman of Kearney, Sara (Dr. Tyson) Reuter of Colorado Springs, CO, and Dr. Katie (Shane) Hays of Scottsbluff; daughter and son-in-law Terri and Edward Rose of Mitchell and their son Jordan Rose of Lincoln, NE; son Greg Schaneman of Omaha and his children Zac (Amanda) Schaneman of Gering and Carah (James) Yung of Scottsbluff. Great-grandchildren include Delaney, Easton, and Brock Reuter, Reese Hays, Chloe and Sophie Schaneman, and Jayce and Wyatt Yung.
Survivors also include brothers, Jim (Helen) Huck of Mitchell, SD, Ken (Marilyn) Huck of Bayard, Vern (Sharon) Huck of Waterloo, NE, sister Ruth McGee of Scottsbluff, and sister-in-law Gailyn Huck of Minatare. Also special to Doris were Casi Beliel of Cheyenne and her children Gage and Kaden.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Conrad and brother Clyde Huck.
