Moose has nice swim in Terry's Lake

Law enforcement officers this morning chased a bull moose that was in Terry's Lake back to the North Platte River. Terrytown Mayor Kent Greenwalt observed the animal around 7 a.m. this morning after being notified by a city employee.

Greenwalt said he observed the moose swim from the south of the lake to the north side and was fairly close to some homes before being herded toward the river.

Greenwalt says the moose had pretty good "paddles", the technical name for what many would call antlers. Greenwalt says those present believe the animal is about two and a half years old.

Greenwalt says the moose was in Terrytown Friday evening and it's likely the same animal observed in Mitchell last week and at other locations in the North Platte valley this summer.
