Bestselling author to make presentation tonight on Mt. Everest ascent
A bestselling author who published a book this spring commemorating the 50th anniversary of the first American ascent of Mt. Everest will be at the Scottsbluff Public Library for a presentation this evening at 7 p.m.
Broughton Coburn, author of "The Vast Unknown", will describe the heartwarming and harrowing climb, complete with a remarkable collection of seldom seen video.
Coburn compared those on the expedition to the astronauts, noting both have "The Right Stuff". Coburn lived in Nepal, Tibet in India for twenty years, living with the Sherpas, who resided in the mountainous area near the base camp used by those on the project. Coburn now lives near Jackson Hole and has been on a promotional tour through Nebraska and Wyoming promoting his book.
