Three men enter pleas on multiple theft charges
Two former WNCC mens basketball players and another man charged with multiple theft counts following a lengthy investigation by the Scotts Bluff County Sheriff's office and other local agencies entered no contest pleas to misdemeanor theft charges in Scotts Bluff County Court Thursday.
The 19 year old basketball players Austin Clark and Zach Bibb and 18 year old Mathieu Priells each entered no contest pleas to 10 counts of misdemeanor theft after originally being charged with seven counts of theft, one of them felony theft. The three were arrested earlier this month. Bibb and Clark were both removed from the WNCC roster earlier this year.
Sheriff Mark Overman says all three men were "completely cooperative" with investigators as authorities began looking into their possible involvement in thefts from unlocked vehicles between November 29th and December 5th of last year. Items taken included a radar detector, binoculars, a GPS unit,an X-box and in one instance $1,000 cash.
Overman said there was "not much hesitation" from the suspects in admitting to the thefts.
All three men will be sentenced on April 4th at 1:30 p.m. They could face up to 6 months in jail and/or a $1,000 fine on each of the 10 counts.
