Schlothauer, Mark, & Camacho honored by Chamber

Dr. George Schlothauer, Dr. Sam Mark and Katie Camacho were honored by the Scottsbluff-Gering United Chamber of Commerce Thursday night with their annual awards.

Schlothauer, who was born in Scottsbluff and grew up in Gering, is the winner of the Chamber's trailblazer Award. Schlothauer practiced dentistry in Gering for many years until turning over the clinic to his son Mark. Schlothauer was President of the Nebraska Dental Association in 2001 and was inducted into the Nebraska Dental Association Hall of Fame in 2006. His community service includes being a Gering school board member for 11 years including two terms as President, President of the Scottsbluff County Republican Party for five years, President of the Leadership Scottsbluff Board, and board member for Northfield Retirement and the North Platte Valley Museum.

Dr. Mark was presented the Super Star Award. Dr. Mark, a native of Torrington , began has career at Wills Chiropractic in 2003 after gaining his doctorate. His volunteer work includes the St. Agnes Premiere Fundraiser and Fall Dinner and Knights of Columbus, and Chair of the Chamber's Government Affairs Committee for the past seven years.

Camacho is the Chamber's Rising Star. A Scottsbluff native, Camacho is employed by U.S. Bank and since moving back to the community from Colorado has served as President of the Scottsbluff Kiwanis Club, founded the Light of Hope fundraiser for child advocacy groups CASA and CAPstone, and is currently President of the CASA Board and Co-Chair of the 2012-2013 United Way Campaign.
