Marvin Marion Scott, 91, Scottsbluff

Marvin Marion Scott, 91, of Scottsbluff, passed away Monday, August 12, 2013 at the Western Nebraska Veteran's Home in Scottsbluff. A graveside service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff with Pastor Ted Meter officiating. The United States Navy will provide military funeral honors. Memorials may be made in care of the family to be designated later. Marvin was born March 2, 1922 in Lynch, Nebraska to Vivian and Jim Scott. He was signal man 2nd class in the United States Navy. Marvin enlisted on August 22, 1942 and was honorably discharged December 10, 1945.

Marvin married Mollie Green on October 4, 1947 in Torrington, Wyoming. He worked as manager of Western Union. Marvin also worked as a bookkeeper for an oil corporation in Banner County until going to work as a mail carrier for the US Postal Service until his retirement in 1990.

Marvin's hobbies included his love of the Huskers, NASCAR and trivia. He was a lifelong member of Salem Congregational Church.

Survivors include his daughter, Gloria (Dennis) Holkovic of Mitchell; one granddaughter, Lisa (Phil) Murphy of Wichita, Kansas; great granddaughters, Madelyne and Sophie of Wichita, Kansas; and grandson, Brian (Jackie Fulton) Holkovic of Washington, DC.

Preceding Marvin in death was his father, Jim, at an early age; mother, Vivian in 1980; and his wife, Mollie in 1997.
