Helen Clara Matthews, 97, Torrington

Torrington, Wyoming – Helen Clara Matthews, 97, died May 31, 2013 at the Goshen Care Center in Torrington, Wyoming.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 3, at the Colyer Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Vickie Kintzel officiating. Cremation will follow services and burial will take place at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the First Wyoming United Presbyterian Church or the Goshen Care Center, both of Torrington.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Helen was born March 7, 1916 in Omaha, Nebraska the daughter of Jacob and Pauline (Hoffman) Hoff. She graduated Mitchell High School in 1934. Helen married Maro Matthews June 1, 1940 and the couple resided in Torrington. She worked as a dental assistant and an xray technician. Helen also worked with her husband in the restaurant business and later in food services at EWC. She retired in 1980. Helen enjoyed bridge, bowling, and shopping. In later years, she enjoyed Bible Study with her special friend Sandy Baugh. She was a member of the First Wyoming United Presbyterian Church, Hospital Auxiliary (of which she was top ticket seller for many years), Bridge Club and Rebecca Lodge.

Survivors include her husband Maro of Torrington; her son Craig (Jeanne) Matthews of Scottsbluff, NE; four grandchildren, Ginger (Gary) Barthel and their son Geremy, Katie (Christopher) Camacho and their daughters Julia and Samantha, Debbie (Robert) Pearson and their children Rachel and Max, and Chuck Farlow and his children Greg, Sarah, Megan and Laura; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; 4 sisters, Marie Kaufman, Kathryn Smith, Anne Johnson and Linda O'Conner.
