Hostage situation at Casper hotel ends
A standoff at a motel in Casper has ended, with one person being transported to the hospital.
The Casper Star-Tribune reported that the standoff at the Super 8 Motel ended after almost 11 hours Tuesday. One man taken to Wyoming Medical Center with undisclosed injuries, according to Casper Police Chief Chris Walsh.
The paper said that police negotiated with the man to release five others in the room. Walsh said chemical agents were thrown through the room's windows but no lethal rounds were fired by police.
No police officers were injured.
Police aren't sure what started the standoff at the Super 8 Motel. Police were originally called to the motel because a number of people were going in and out of a room there at around 6 a.m.
Guests were told they were told to evacuate and two witnesses heard what sounded like gunshots.
Three schools in the area, open for the first day of school, were put on lockdown.
