Woman injured in Minatare accident not seriously injured

KNEB News has confirmed A 19-year-old Gering woman suffered relatively minor injuries when her car collided with a semi in Minatare Tuesday night.

According to a Nebraska State Patrol report, Cassandra Gonzalez received bumps and bruises in the accident despite the fact her car was totaled in the accident. She was transported to Regional West Medical Center, but was not listed in the hospital directory because she was either treated and released or did not want an update on her condition released to the media.

According to the Patrol, Gonzalez was driving northbound on Main Street in Minatare when she failed to yield and was struck by an eastbound semi. Gonzalez was ejected from the vehicle.

The driver of the semi, 49-year-old Reyes Escamilla of Alliance was not injured.

The 1995 Geo Prism that Gonzalez was driving was totaled, and damage was estimated at $3,000 to the 2005 Peterbuilt semi.

The accident happened at 6:30 p.m.
