Mary was born on June 19, 1925 in Scottsbluff to John Gallawa, Sr. and Mary (Weimer) Gallawa. She was the 9th of 12 children. She received her education in the Scottsbluff Public Schools. She was confirmed at Salem Congregational Church on March17, 1940. Mary was married to Lorenzo Charles (Cash) Regester on August 28, 1951 at the Salem Congregational Church in Scottsbluff. Mary was always at Cash's side as his banking position took him from Gering to Garden City, KS. They were a happy team.
She was employed with F.W. Woolworth for a lot of years. After they moved to Garden City, KS, they were part owners in a Hallmark Card and Gift Shop which Mary liked so much. She always had such good ideas as what the shop could sell. When retirement came, the move was made back to Scottsbluff. Mary liked reading and listening to all kinds of music. She was The Keeper of all the Gallawa Family History with Cash's help.
She is survived by her sisters Martha Whitlock of Pueblo, CO, Esther Corcoran of Baltimore, MD, brothers Jack Gallawa of Pensacola, FL, John (Dorothy) Gallawa of Scottsbluff, Robert (Donaline) Gallawa of Boulder, CO, Walter (Francine) Gallawa of Sacramento, CA; sister in law Elizabeth (John) Erickson of Edmond, OK; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary loved all family and was very proud of them.
Her parents, husband Cash, sisters Marie Gallawa and Katherine (Ed) Williams, Leah (George) Hilzer, brothers Alex (Mary Ann) Gallawa, Adam Gallawa, sisters in law Glenna (Joe) Smith and Imogene (Dick) Lewis, brothers in law Howard Whitlock, Robert Corcoran, Richard (Sandy) Regester, aunts and uncles Mr.& Mrs. Jacob & Katherine (Stephan) Weimer and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews preceded her in death.
Mary is now with her beloved "Cash" where she has longed to be. Mary was a very giving and caring person. She will be missed by all who knew her.
