Edward A. Scott, 82, Mitchell
Edward A. Scott, 82, of Mitchell, passed away Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Regional West Medical Center. His funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 21, 2012 at Holy Apostles Episcopal Church in Mitchell with The Very Rev. Gary R. Young, The Reverend Carol Ann Bullard and Deacon Angela Jones officiating. Private family inurnment will take place at the Mitchell City Cemetery. Memorials in his name may be made to Holy Apostles Episcopal Church or to the Festival of Hope. Jones Mortuary is assisting the family with the arrangements. Edward was born July 31, 1930 at Mitchell, Nebraska to Almon and Vera E. (Petsch) Scott. He attended schools in Scottsbluff, Morrill and Mitchell and graduated from Mitchell High School with the class of 1948. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1948 until 1951.
On April 15, 1951, Ed married Helen V. Faulkner at Holy Apostles Episcopal Church. He worked as a freight salesman for West Nebraska Express for many years until purchasing the NAPA auto parts store in Bridgeport, which he ran for close to twenty years before his retirement.
Ed loved spending time at Lake Minatare, cheering on the Nebraska Cornhuskers, fishing, hunting, rock hounding, and doing woodworking projects in his shop, but the highlight of his life was his family. He spent countless hours watching his children and grandchildren in their activities and school projects and thoroughly enjoyed it all.
He was a longtime member of Holy Apostles Episcopal Church, served two terms as Junior Warden and two terms as Senior Warden at the church and was a member of the Mitchell American Legion Post. He was also a longtime member of the Jills and Bills Square Dance Club.
Ed is survived by his wife Helen V. Scott of Mitchell; his son Kelly (Cheri) Scott of Bridgeport , grandchildren Jeremiah and James Scott and Justin Bilby and Angie Andrews, and great grandchildren Cheyenne Scott, Lily Scott, Emily Andrews, Madison Andrews and Bethany Andrews; and his daughter Kari (Robert) Foreman of Gering and grandchildren Tori Foreman and her fiancĂ©e Zach Reavis and Brady Foreman. He is also survived by a sister in law Helen E. Scott of Lincoln.
His parents and a brother Verl preceded him in death.
