Human remains found north of Chadron

The Dawes County Sheriff's office has confirmed that human remains have been found north of Chadron near the South Dakota state line. The remains were found Monday morning by a rancher working cattle on his property near Highway 385.

Officers with the Nebraska State Patrol and the Dawes County Sheriff's office responded to the scene and retrieved the remains, which were brought back to Chadron. Dawes County Attorney Vance Haug has ordered a forensic examination to be completed by a Scottsbluff pathologist to help in a positive identification and determination on cause of death.
