Check presented from 1st Bra Auction
Those who participated in the first annual "Save a Rack at Backaracks" Bra Auction have a lot to be proud of after helping to raise over $15,000 to contribute to the Festival of Hope mission. The final count included money raised from a 50/50 raffle and the sale of pink t-Shirts.
Dr. Vince Bjorling and his wife Vicki, who established the Festival of Hope were on hand at Backaracks Thursday along with several Festival of Hope representative. They accepted a $15,305 check on behalf of Festival of Hope by presented by KNEB Sales Manager Kendra Feather.
Dr. Bjorling said they were amazed at the response, and hopes this will become an annual fun event. He says for the people who came to the event the other night, it was number one a lot of fun, and it was for a great cause. Bjorling said he feels it was a great event in our community, and clearly the Festival of Hope and the Breast Cancer Registry are going to benefit from it.
There were over 400 people in attendance for the auction last Wednesday. Over 100 highly customized and decorated bras were donated for the auction, with two of the bras selling for over $1,500.
Over the past eight years, the Festival of Hope has provided over $1 million to assist cancer patients with their non-medical expenses during cancer treatements.
