Killing freeze expected Thursday morning; cold through the weekend
A widespread killing freeze is expected to occur this week, as a series of strong cold fronts affect the area.
The first strong cold front will dive south across the region by late Wednesday afternoon, bringing much colder temperatures and strong gusty north winds. Then, a second cold front will sweep across the area on Friday reinforcing the cold air.
Temperatures will drop to the coldest readings of the season so far Thursday morning. High temperatures will generally be in the 40s and 50s expected through the end of the week. Low temperatures early Thursday morning are expected to drop below freezing across most of the region, with readings in the lower 20s to lower 30s. Similar temperatures are expected to occur each night through the weekend.
A few rain or snow showers may occur behind the fronts, but any precipitation amounts currently appear to be very light.
