Semi destroyed by fire
The cab of a Semi destroyed in Monday morning fire semi parked in the Western travel terminal parking lot was destroyed by fire shortly before 7 a.m. Monday morning.
Police say Scottsbluff fire officials determined a short in the semi's starting system caused the fire, which produced billowing black and white smoke that could be seen easily by those traveling in the area of the South Beltline and Avenue I intersection.
Police say the Indiana driver, who was not present at the time of the fire, said he had been idle for several days waiting for his next assignment and had left the vehicle at the truck stop while visiting people he knew in town.
