Nick Ward named VP of Ward Laboratories, Inc.
Nick Ward has been named Vice President of Ward Laboratories, Inc. He will join his grandfather, Dr. Ray Ward, in the day to day operation and leadership of the agricultural testing laboratory headquartered in Kearney, Nebraska.
Nick Ward is a graduate of Wamego, Kansas High School and received his Bachelor of Science in Agronomy from Kansas State University in 2007. He earned a masters degree in agronomy from KSU in 2010 and is currently a PH.D. candidate in agronomy from the University of Nebraska Lincoln. He is expected to complete his doctorate this spring.
The younger Ward will be responsible for the overall operation of the laboratory while providing agronomic consulting and advice to clients nationwide. Dr. Ward will continue to work full time as well and will provide advice to clients while maintaining a vigorous travel and speaking schedule on behalf of the laboratory.
Ward Laboratories, Inc. was founded by Dr. Ward and his wife Jolene in 1983 in a small three bay garage at Rovar Park in Kearney. They were among the first companies to purchase property and build a new building in the Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce owned Kearney Industrial Park in 1987. There has been one addition to the present building and another major addition is planned for 2014 to meet the growing demands of the company and its clients.
The laboratory has 35 full time employees and has employed a high of 52 on a seasonal basis this past year. The lab provides scientific analysis on more than 300,000 soil, water, plant, manure and feed samples annually.
Nick and his wife Brooke have two small children and will make their home in Kearney.
