Earl R. Faulkner, 93, Scottsbluff

Earl R. Faulkner, 93, of Scottsbluff, died Monday, November 5, 2012 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 12, 2012 at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel with Pastor Ron Nuss-Warren officiating. Interment will be in the Mitchell City Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Nebraska Army National Guard. Memorials may be given to the donor's choice. Friends may call at the funeral home between 1:00 – 6:00 p.m. Sunday.

Earl was born January 19, 1919 in Pueblo, CO to Stanley and Saida (Cook) Faulkner. He lived in Aurora, CO before moving to Mitchell in 1930. He graduated from Mitchell High School in 1939. Earl earned his private pilot's license in 1937. Earl married Guila Evans November 10, 1940 and would have celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary Saturday. He worked for his dad at the Chevrolet Garage in Mitchell. Earl taught Navy students to fly in the War Training Service in Laramie, WY for two years before entering the Army Air Corps during WW II and was honorably discharged in November of 1945.

Earl returned to the area where he farmed for eight years, ran the Bayard Elevator for 15 years before selling it to Simplot and continued to work for Simplot for another ten years before retiring.

Earl loved fishing and he and Guila square danced for over 45 years.

Earl is survived by his wife Guila, son Jerry D. (Dorothy) Faulkner of Scottsbluff, daughter Janeen Pierce of Scottsbluff, sister Helen Scott of Mitchell, four grandchildren, Jeff Faulkner, Jody Wentz, Robin Klepper and Steven Pierce, 11 Great Grandchildren and his dachshund Molly.

Preceding Earl in death were his parents and sisters, Lucille Conklin, and Joan Beebe.
