Scottsbluff Fire Dept Open House Saturday

The Scottsbluff Fire Department will be hosting their 2nd Annual Open House for the public this Saturday, September 28th from 10:00am-2:00pm.

Firefighters will be on hand to give tours of the station and all of the fire trucks. Public Information Officer Justin Houstoun says this is a great opportunity to come in and meet your local firefighters, ask questions and see all of the equipment. Firefighters will be manning the grill and providing hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and drinks for lunch.

Houstoun says several fun activities will be available for everyone to participate in throughout the day. Some of the activities planned include station tours, dressing up in full firefighter gear, aerial ladder rides and more.

They will also have vehicle extrication demonstrations, where firefighters will explain and demonstrate how they remove trapped occupants from inside a vehicle. And, there will be a Smash A Car fundraiser. For a $1 donation per swing, participants will use a sledge hammer while dressed in full firefighter gear, to wreck a donated SUV. All proceeds will go to the smoke and carbon monoxide detector fund.
