William "Bill" G. Groskopf, 73, Scottsbluff
William "Bill" G. Groskopf, 73, of Scottsbluff, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Friday, July 5, 2013 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. His funeral service will be held at 10:30 on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Salem Congregational Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Dale Brown officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. Visitation is scheduled from 11am until 7pm on Wednesday at Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff. The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made in Bill's honor in care of the family to be designated at a later time. Bill was born July 15, 1939 in Mitchell, NE to Jake and Edna (Hartung) Groskopf. He graduated from Gering High School in 1957. After graduation, he joined the United States Navy. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, he married Imogene Hornbacher in Boston, Mass in 1961.
Bill started working for Great Western Sugar in 1967, and worked there for over 30 years until his retirement. He was a member of Salem Congregational Church in Scottsbluff. He enjoyed working in his yard, building stuff around the house, spending time with family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren and their sporting events and activities. He enjoyed going to rodeos, watching most sports and going to coffee with neighbors and friends. Bill loved getting in his vehicle and jut going for a drive, whether it was around town or out in the country to look at the old homestead or the crops to see how they were growing.
Bill is survived by his wife Imogene of Scottsbluff; son Kurt (Rashelle) Groskopf of Cheyenne, WY; grandchildren Geoff (Cara) Groskopf of Scottsbluff, Shane Groskopf of Bayard, Megan Groskopf of North Platte, and Justin Groskopf of Cheyenne; great grandchildren Heidi, Madison and Jordan Groskopf, and Zayden Hayes; sisters Eldora Roberts of Portland, OR, Ruth Ross of Scottsbluff, Pat Harpole of Mitchell, and Judy (Roy) Cash of TX, and Jo Ann (Rich) Rein of Gering; and numerous nieces and nephews.
His parents, sons Gary Groskopf and Greg Groskopf, and father and mother in law Will (Agatha) Hornbacher preceded him in death.
