Bridgeport purchases nursing home
The city of Bridgeport has signed papers Friday to purchase the local nursing home from Vetter Health Services for $850,000. Mayor Jack Berg says Vetter Health decided several months ago when it had to meet a federal regulation to sprinkler the nursing home by August 13th, it was either going to close the facility or sell it. Berg says he and the council felt they needed to take action.
Berg says the purchase includes Vetter sprinkling the interior of the nursing home. Berg says the city has licenses for 36 beds, which soon will expand to 40. He says the nursing home is currently full and has a waiting list.
Berg also says Rural Health Development will begin managing the home as of Monday. Berg says they have done a good job with properties in other states and the city is confident they will do the same with this one.
