Recall effort started against Kimball County Attorney

A Bushnell man has begun a petition drive to recall Kimball County Attorney Dave Wilson.

Verne Hackbarth claimed in his petition affidavit filed with the Kimball County Clerk that Wilson has failed for several years to foreclose on properties removed from tax rolls, costing the county potential revenue. He also maintains Wilson has furnished his personal office at a high expense to Kimball County.

In his response, Wilson denies that any properties were removed from tax rolls. In regards to foreclosing on property, Wilson says a foreclosure leaves the county owning the property and can cost the county hundreds or thousands of dollars, which would not be in the county's best interest. He also says he is paying to furnish his office, not Kimball County.
