Patrick "Pat" Friedlan, 70

No funeral services are planned at this time for PATRICK 'PAT' FRIEDLAN, 70, who died on Friday, March 15, 2013 at the Torrington Community Hospital Special Touch Room after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Colyer Funeral Home assisted the family with cremation arrangements and a private family burial was held. Pat requested that memorial contributions in his memory be directed to either the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.

Pat was born on October 5, 1942 in Torrington, Wyoming the son of Albert and Alpha (Scott) Friedlan. He lived his early years with his family at Sunrise, Wyoming and then at the St. Joseph's Childrens Home where his parents worked. He attended school at Torrington; graduating Torrington High School in 1960. Pat entered the US Army in January of 1966 and was honorably discharged in October of that year. He married Barbara Green and to this union a son, Wade, was born. The couple later divorced.

Pat lived in Phoenix, Arizona for 12 years and during that time worked as a Security Guard and worked for ORKIN Pest Control. Pat also was a trained, professional meat cutter and worked at Fry's grocery store in Arizona and at Sac N Save in Torrington, Wyoming when he lived there. He moved to Scottsbluff, Nebraska and worked in the tree service for a time before relocating to Torrington, Wyoming. Pat married Dolly Lira on June 15, 1991 and the couple lived in Torrington and Pat worked with his father and brother in Friedlan Tree Service before starting his own business, Platte Valley Pest Control which he operated until ill health forced his retirement.

Pat enjoyed camping with his wife and family members at Snowy Range. He also liked fishing and hunting. He especially enjoyed photography and wood working. He had made gun cabinets, armoires, shelving systems and many other pieces. Perhaps Pat's greatest enjoyment of all was watching his six step grandchildren grow and change and helping out in his wife's day care, "Dolly's Day Care" with all the many children who came and went over the years. The children always put a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye when they referred to him as "Paddy Boy". Though all the children made him chuckle, one little girl, Callie Jane Fritzler, especially warmed his heart Pat will be missed by all who knew him; young and old alike.

He is survived by his wife, Dolly of Torrington; his son Wade Friedlan & Celestina of Gering, Nebraska; his brother, John Friedlan & Charm of Torrington; step daughter, Candice (Lira) Matthews ; step son, Michael Lira & Stacie ; step daughter, Jennifer Lira & Cody ; and Daniel Lira & Lilly all of Torrington; his 6 step grandchildren, Chrissy, Brittney, Natalie, and Nathan; and twins, Hailey and Ali; two nephews, Jason (Cara) Friedlan and Jerod (Bekah) Friedlan all of Cheyenne; and many other nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his close friends, Albert and Shanna Hamburg; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jim and Caroline Johnson; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jean and Ron Green and Patsy and Guy Chabot, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Jodi Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Kathy Friedlan.
