Heineman still skeptical about putting guns in the hands of teachers
Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman says he is not very excited about putting guns in the hands of teachers in the classroom. Senator Mark Christensen of Imperial says he will introduce legislation to allow teachers to obtain a concealed carry permit along with added training, possibly in a simulated setting.
Heineman said Friday he will listen to the debate but it is still not something he favors. Heineman says when it comes to law enforcement he supports leaving it to the "specialists"
Heineman says he has a big fear that a teacher will have a gun in their desk and a student will somehow find a way to get their hands on it and the wrong things will ensue.
