Franklin "Leroy" Hrasky, 81, Mitchell
Franklin "Leroy" Hrasky, 81, of Mitchell, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, September 3, 2013 on his farm. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, September 9, 2013 at Jones Mortuary in Mitchell with Pastor L.D. Alderson officiating. Interment will follow at Mitchell City Cemetery. The Nebraska Army National Guard will provide military funeral honors. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Monday morning. Memorials may be made to the Mitchell Volunteer Fire Department.
Leroy was born October 31, 1931 in Mitchell to Frank and Viola (Bennett) Hrasky. He graduated from Mitchell High School in 1949. Leroy began serving in the United States Army in 1952 during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1954. Leroy worked as a farmer throughout his life, diligently taking great care of his land year after year.
Leroy served as a director on the Mitchell Drainage District.
Survivors include his sisters, Elsie Hauff of Morrill and Margaret Harriger of Scottsbluff; brother, Virgil (Beverly) Hrasky of Mitchell; nephews, Frank Hrasky of Mitchell and Hank (Mary) Hrasky of John's Creek, GA; nieces, Saralyn (Donald) Schmall of Minatare and Sherri (Richard) Schultz of Torrington; great nephews, Donny Schmall of GA and Justin Schmall of Minatare; great nieces, Victoria Hrasky of John's Creek, Bethany (Kelly) Mumm of Scottsbluff and Christina (Ken) Boehr of Scottsbluff; and great great nieces, Madison and Elliott Mumm of Scottsbluff and Alexia, Baylee and Caitlin Boehr of Scottbluff. Other survivors include Tim Scherbarth and his children, Katie and Thomas all of Hay Springs.
Preceding Leroy in death were his parents; and brothers-in-law, Alex Hauff and Lincoln Harriger.
