Roy Lawton leaving CAPWN
A well-known face for Community Action Partnership of Western Nebraska is leaving the community. Roy Lawton, who has been with the agency for twelve years, is leaving to go to North Platte, where he will be the Executive Director of their homeless shelter beginning June 4th.
Lawton, who has been CAPWN's Director of Family Programs most recently, says he's pleased with work he has done to help the area's food pantries, especially the annual Salvation Army Drive prior to Christmas.
Lawton says the 60 bed facility he will be directing in North Platte serves all ages, has transitional programs to work the homeless into independence, has a greenhouse and is funded by a thrift store. Lawton says part of what he will be doing is educating the North Platte residents about the plight of the homeless.
