Brian D. "Radar" Roberts, 54, formerly of Bayard

Brian D. "Radar" Roberts, 54 of Lake Charles, LA, formerly of Bayard, Nebraska passed away Sunday, August 4, 2013 at Memorial Hospital in Lake Charles, LA.

A gathering will be held Saturday, September 7, 2013 from 2-4 pm at the Gering Civic Center. The family request casual attire. Tributes of sympathy may be left at

Brian was born on March 20, 1959 in Lancaster County, Nebraska, the son of Darrell and Carol (Smith) Roberts. He attended school in McGrew and graduated from Bayard High School in 1977. He was involved in sports and high school rodeo. He was an active member of the Bayard Assembly and Northfield Church youth groups. He worked on the Union Pacific Railroad for a short period of time. He worked as a ranch hand a couple of ranches. He was a truck driver and laborer in Nebraska, Colorado, Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana.

He was married to Rhonda Reizenstein and they later divorced.
He was an avid Husker fan and loved to smoke meat for his friends. He was known for a great smile.

Survivors include his parents Darrell and Carol Roberts of Bayard; brother Steve and Linda Roberts and their children Darrell, Elizabeth and James Roberts all of Oregon; sister Sandra and Charlie Franken of Mitchell and her children, Sara (Erik) Neilsen and family, Naomi (Gabriel) Gallawa and family all of Colorado, Luke (Brooke) Hudson and family of Montana; step daughter Sherisse Stout and her children Sylvia Mary Jean Strout and Allan Lance Strout of Colorado; numerous aunt, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Bill and Ina Roberts, and maternal grandparents George and Grace Smith.
Gering Memorial Chapel assisted the family with arrangements.
