Volunteers welcome for downtown Bluffs "Green Initiative"
More volunteers would be welcome as City of Scottsbluff staff and others are planting the Greener Nebraska Towns Initiative project located at 18th St and 1st Avenue today. They started at 10:00 and will be there until all of the trees and shrubs are planted, including 200 perennials.
The Scottsbluff High School Horticulture Class will be completing the project by planting grasses and perennials on Monday from 2:00-2:20 and on Tuesday from 2:10-3:15.
The Greener Nebraska Towns Initiative will also be holding its Westmoor Tree Planting project at Westmoor Elementary tomorrow, May 11, at 9:00.
During the workshop, the Nebraska Forest Service will demonstrate proper tree planting and 10 trees will be planted at the elementary school. Scottsbluff residents who have signed up for the residential tree program may pick up trees at the workshop. Trees are still available for $15 each, two tree limit per address. Sign up for the program as soon as possible at city hall.
