Adela Benavidez, 92, Scottsbluff
Adela Benavidez, 92 of Scottsbluff, Nebraska passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at Golden Living Center in Scottsbluff.
Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel with Rev. John Sermeno officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the chapel, the casket will be closed. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.dugankramer.com.
Adela was born on December 16, 1920 in Mexico to Emidio and Simona (Gamboa) Cardenas. She married Faustino Sermeno in 1936. He passed away in 1943. Adela married Adan Benavidez in 1944. They moved to Scottsbluff in 1948 and became a citizen in 1982. Adan passed away in 1998.
She was a member of the Assembly of God Church and was saved in 1948.
Survivors include her daughters Mary Valenzuela of Scottsbluff, Naomi Powers of Arizona and Jenny McNicholas of Colorado; sons John Sermeno of California and Riley Sermeno of Ogallala; sisters Maria Martinez of Santa Rosa, TX, Frances Guiterrez of Belton, TX and Jesusa Alvarado of Peoria, AZ; 14 grandchildren and numerous great and great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Faustino Sermeno and Adan Benavidez, brothers Rito Gamboa and Juan Gamboa, sister Aurora Rojas and son Ishmael Benavidez.
