USGC and USMEF Join Together in Hosting First U.S.-China Hog Summit
Boosting international partners' livestock industries has been a part of the U.S. Grain Council's strategy for developing markets for U.S. feed grains. Now USGC and the U.S. Meat Export Federation have partnered to increase modernization of the hog industry in China. China's hog industry continues to grow and develop - and it's a major force affecting world commodity markets and China's ability to remain self-sufficient in food and feed grains, environmental sustainability and food safety issues in the country. This year - the two organizations along with other partners will host the first U.S.-China Hog Summit. USGC Director in China Dr. Bryan Lohmar says the definition of food security is changing - but USGC believes trade can help provide more food security by ensuring adequate supplies of low cost food to the low-income consumers in China.
