Ronald L. Peters was born March 26, 1929 to AnnaBelle and Ivan Peters in Casper, Wyoming. In 1935, he moved with his parents to the ranch in Morrill County. He attended country school through grade school, often by horseback, which was the beginning of his lifelong interest in horses and horseback riding. Even in later years, his favorite saddle was kept nearby and well cared for.

During the war years and rationing, he boarded in Bayard, returning home on weekend. In 1947, he graduated from Bayard High School and was employed by 1st National Bank. He later attended Chillicothe Business College in Missouri and graduated in 1949. This was where he met and later married Patricia Raney of Horton, Kansas in 1949.

He was employed at Swift & Co. in Scottsbluff for 28 years, the last 16 years as manager of Lamb Division Sales. After the closing of Swift & Co. he moved to Greeley, CO to work at Monfort of CO (later Con-Agra) and 1 year of this time was spent in San Angelo, Texas. In 1991, he retired and returned to Gering, NE, where he resided until the time of his death.

In earlier years, Ron liked spending time at Lake Minatare, fishing, water sports and hunting. He was a Boy Scout volunteer for approximately 10 years, serving in many roles, including District Commissioner and sometimes a week in summer at Laramie Peak Scout Ranch. After retiring, he enjoyed time with family, traveling and seeing new places and had several memorable trips.

Always remembered will be his dedication and loving concern for family, even after becoming ill and unable to live as usual. He loved a funny story and his sense of humor could make a difficult situation easier.

Ron was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church in Gering; Life member of the Elks and Masonic Lodge for over 60 years.
