Scottsbluff parks to receive attention in 2014
A number of improvements and upgrades are planned for parks around the city of Scottsbluff in 2014.
A new fountain type splash pad will be installed at Veteran's Park, new playground equipment for three parks and completion of the Diamond Brite tub re-surfacing renovation underway at Westmoor Pool.
Director of Parks and Recreation Perry Mader says they also are planning a huge landscaping project east of Riverside Discovery Center that will include floating fishing docks and piers, and a bridge that spans the pond area. Mader says they plan to extend the existing nature trail through the park.
Another associated project in that same area east of Riverside Discovery Center includes landscaping being done in conjunction with the North Platte Natural Resources District and the statewide Arboretum. They will install infrastructure for watering initially, and then will plant trees in either in the spring or in the fall.
Initial planning will also be underway for part of the pathway project that will be adjacent to Avenue I. Accommodation for that work will be made during the resurfacing project planned along that route this summer.
