Bill Johns, 83
Bill Johns, 83, passed away with his family by his side, at Regional West Medical Center on Friday, May3l, 2013. There will be a family graveside service 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, June 4 at 6:30 pm at WestWay Christian Church in Scottsbluff. Visitation will be held Monday 1-8pm and Tuesday 9-12pm at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel.
Memorials have been established to WestWay Christian Church and to The Potter's Wheel in Scottsbluff.
Bill was born in Gering on Jan 25, 1930 to Harry and Edith (Bartow) Johns. He attended school at Creighton Valley and graduated from Melbeta High School in 1947. Bill married Joyce Kelley on August 17, 1952. To this union was born three children, Jenni, Tim, and Steve. Bill was a faithful follower and servant of Jesus Christ, a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend who touched many lives in a kind and humble manner.
Bill worked as a mechanic most of his life. Earlier years he did custom combining, worked at Scotts Bluff County Shop at Minatare, S&T Olds, and as owner of BJ's Appliance Repair for 35 years. His hobbies included golf, horseshoe tournaments, Husker games, woodworking, and building rocking horses to give away. He was a member of WestWay Christian Church.
Survivors include Joyce, his loving wife of 60 years; his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; Jenni( Dwight) Barrett, Josh, Joel and Amy; Tim (Kathy) Johns, Zach and Lincoln; Steve (Sheryl) Johns, Amy( Andres) Jimenez, Izabella and Eli, Stephanie( Nels) Huffman, Hunter and Havyn; Sisters; Glenda Cook, Bonnie Hanna and Mary(Marvin) Jensen; Brothers-Marvin(Shirley) Johns, Kenneth(Jackie) Johns, and Dwaine Johns.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters; Betty Lewis and Erma Johnston.
