Darrel Werger, 84
After a lengthy illness, our blessed Darrel Werger, 84, passed on to be with the Lord, March 23, 2013, at Torrington Community Hospital.
Memorial services will be held at 2 pm Tuesday, March 26, at North Hills Baptist Church in Lingle, Wyoming with Pastors Dave Anderson and Dick Young officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North Hills Baptist Church in Lingle or the Senior Friendship Center in Torrington.

Darrel was born October 28, 1928 to John and Rose (Chalupa) Werger in Halam, Nebraska. At the age of two, the family moved south of Stegal, Nebraska and later moved northwest of Hawk Springs, Wyoming. Darrel graduated from Hawk Springs High School in 1946 and later married Virginia Exley in 1949. They were divorced in 1969.
He ran the Sinclair Service Station in Torrington from 1953 to 1973 and managed the Sinclair Bulk Plant from 1971 to 1975. He served as sheriff for Goshen County from 1975 until he retired from office in 1991. In 1984, he met the love of his life, Carol Summerville and the couple was married in 1985.
Darrel was a member of the North Hills Baptist Church and a member of the Torrington Fire Department for over 60 years. He was also a member of the Torrington Masonic lodge and Torrington Shrine Club. He enjoyed playing pool, camping, riding his horse and helping local ranchers brand.
He is survived by his wife Carol of Torrington; five children, Mariane and Jim Brandt of Eagle, Idaho, Gregg Werger of Casper, Ginger Himphrey of Cheyenne, Gaylene and Bob Schwalen of River Falls, Wisconsin, Gloria and Richard Pluimer of Spearfish, South Dakota; three step children, Sam and Diane Summerville and Robin Thomson both of Mitchell, Nebraska, Shelley and Randy Rodehorst of Kearney, Nebraska; eighteen grandchildren; and special friends Tom and Maxine Mitchell of Torrington.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Shirley Lockman and Beverly Yates; a half brother Virgil Werner and sister Sylvia Wells.
