Virginia "Jane" Emery, Bayard
Virginia "Jane" Emery of Bayard went to be with the LORD on her 91st birthday, Friday, October 18, 2013, at Chimney Rock Villa in Bayard, Ne. Her memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 25, 2013 at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel, casual attire is requested. Pastor Arlene Johnson of the First Christian Church will be officiating. Interment will be in West Lawn Cemetery in Gering, NE. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tristian Reynolds Education Fund, 519 4th Avenue, Bayard, NE 69334. Jane was born on October 18, 1922 in Scottsbluff, NE to Charles and Marguret (Harbach) Clyde. She graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1940. Jane moved to California where she worked at the Alameda Naval Air Station and married Louis "Bud" Emery in Alameda, CA on February 4, 1945. Later that year they moved to their farm in Minatare, NE where they raised their daughter Jan Elaine. Jane was active in 4H; American Legion; a life member of the VFW Auxiliary, and a member of the First Christian Church. She was an avid fan of the Nebraska Cornhusker's and her and Bud loved to travel to Lincoln to watch them play, as well as numerous bowl games around the country.
In 1976 Bud Emery suffered a stroke which left him paralyzed and unable to have spontaneous speech. Jane became his voice, his caregiver and his constant companion for the next 17 years. Her family and friends knew her for her selfless dedication to caring for Bud until he passed away in 1994. They had a red toy poodle named Cricket who they both adored and after Bud's passing, Cricket became her constant companion and best friend.
Jane is survived by granddaughters, Lori (Herb) Johnston and Lisa (James) Johnston both of Bayard, NE. great-grandsons Dustin Johnston and Jerald Johnston; great-grandson Kraig Nelson; great-granddaughter Kelli Ulrich (Codi); great-great-grandson Tristian Reynolds; sister In-law Marilyn Clyde of Phoenix, AZ; niece Lisa Clyde Cummings (Russ) of Phoenix, AZ; nephews Chuck Clyde of Denver, CO; Scott Clyde of Mesa, AZ; Micky Derock (Patty) of Johnstown, CO; Denny Denison of Canada; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Preceding Jane in death are her husband, Bud Emery; daughter Jan Elaine Meyer; great-granddaughter Cheryl Johnston; parents Charles and Marguret Clyde; brothers Lawrence, Calvin and Skip Clyde; sisters Dutch Denison, Verla Derock, Adeline Meier and Rose Clyde.
