Mitchell upgrades Cotant's status

The Mitchell City council last week upgraded Police Chief Mike Cotant's status to full time. Cotant had been on a six month probationary status after his hiring last May. Mitchell City Administrator Ty Abernethy says Cotant, who has twenty years experience in law enforcement, has been a good fit for the community.

The Police department is short one officer after Tim Eichner resigned when he accepted another position. Abernethy says applications are being taken and interviews will be conducted soon so the open spot can be filled. Mitchell has four police officers, including the Chief.
