Harold was born February 21, 1930, to David and Katherine (Hoffman) Martin on the family farm in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. He attended rural schools and began farming with his father.

He married the love of his life, Carolina Harimon, during a blizzard on March 26, 1950. They continued farming in the area before buying their first farm north of Scottsbluff in 1962 and later buying additional farms with their sons, Richard and Roger. He truly enjoyed feeding cattle and farming, raising potatoes, alfalfa, sugar beets, corn and beans.

In his early years of farming, Harold supplemented their income by working at Swift Packing Plant and in potato cellars. He was active in many organizations, including the Victory Hill School Board, Victory Hill 4-H Club, Nebraska Dry Bean Growers Association, and Pathfinder Irrigation District.

Harold was a lifelong member of Salem Congregational Church, where he was baptized, confirmed, and married. Throughout the years, he served as a Trustee, Deacon, and Pastoral Search Committee Chairman. He was steadfast in his faith, always teaching by his living example. He reached out to neighbors and strangers alike, leaving bits and pieces of his love with everybody he met.

Harold loved spending time with his loving wife and family, cherishing every moment - especially those with his grandkids and great-grandkids. He was each family members' "biggest fan", cheering them on in school, sporting events, and various other activities.

Harold is survived by his wife, Carolina; niece Marilyn Klein-Fisher of Scottsbluff; sons Roger (Brenda) Martin of Mitchell, and Russell (Linda) Martin of Grand Junction, Colorado; daughter Sandra (Jim) Lunniss of Sidney, Nebraska; brother Don Martin, sister Margaret Meier, and sister-in-law Shirley (Ervin) Martin, all of Scottsbluff; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws Alex and Eva Harimon, sister Dorothy, brothers Robert and Ervin, sister-in-law Shirley (Don) Martin, brother-in-law Tom Meier, son Richard, infant daughter Linda, granddaughter Jennifer, and great-nephew Michael Klein.
