Bluffs woman charged with stealing from impaired mother's account

A Scottsbluff woman has been charged with theft and abuse of a vulnerable adult after allegedly taking over $12,000 cash from her elderly mother's account.

Court documents say 53 year old Jeanette Ralston's mother is confined to a wheelchair at Chimney Rock Villa after falling.
The documents say the woman also had mental impairment issues that resulted in Ralston being her Financial Power of Attorney and an authorized signer on her account.

The documents say even though the victim received more than $1,100 a month in social security payments she was behind over $3,600 in payments to the Villa. After reviewing the account, the investigation showed that Ralston had withdrawn cash from the account to pay her own bills and to purchase items for herself from local stores and restaurants.
