Chadron woman arrested for hitting child with bat

A 31 year old Chadron woman is facing a felony child abuse charge after allegedly striking a juvenile with a baseball bat.

According to Police Chief Tim Lordino, officers were called to the 400 block of North Main Street in reference to a disturbance at around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Officers made contact with Natachi Burns Prairie, who was arrested and transported to the Dawes County Jail and charged with misdemeanor disturbing the peace and criminal mischief charges.

Burns Prairie was subsequently charged with Class IIIA felony child abuse after the investigation revealed that she had allegedly struck a juvenile with a baseball bat. Lordino says an aluminum bat was recovered at the residence.
