Tom McLean, 80, Gering
Tom McLean, 80, of Gering, entered into rest Monday, May 20, 2013 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. His funeral service will be held at 2pm on Friday, May 24, 2013 at Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff with Pastor Ed Hunzeker officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for one hour prior to service time on Friday. The family respectfully requests that in lieu of any flowers, memorials in Tom's honor be made in care of the Scottsbluff Senior Center.
Tom was born July 28, 1932 in Kansas City, Kansas. He was adopted by Howard and Frances McLean. He attended Scottsbluff Public Schools and received his GED in the Army. After being discharged from the Army, he went to Universal Trade School in Omaha. After school he came back to Gering and worked at Lockwood's for several years and then went to work at COOP Refinery until they closed. He then worked on golf carts until his retirement.
Tom loved to golf at Riverview Golf Course with his buddies. He was a member of the Elks, VFW, Eagles and Rollin Oldies Car Club. Tom enjoyed collecting old cars.
Tom married Stella Josiassen on May 24, 1952 at Scottsbluff. To this union 2 children were born; Tena Sue on October 5, 1955 and Steve Lee on March 20, 1957. After Stella's passing on April 15, 1978, he then met Donna Roberts who was his companion until her passing. His dog Jacque was his constant companion the past 10 years.
He is survived by his daughter Tena (Jerry) Cline of Gering; son Steve (Sheryl) McLean of Mitchell; grandchildren Aaron and Joshua Cline of Scottsbluff, Jeremy Cline of Ft. Collins, CO and Danny McLean of Aurora, CO; great grandchildren Renee Cline of Torrington, WY, Tyler Cline of Ft. Collins, CO, and Kahari and Azela McLean of Aurora, CO; and twin brothers Jack and Jim McLean.
His parents, wife Stella and companion Donna preceded him in death.
