Projection has airport boardings finishing over 10,000
Projections by West Nebraska Airport Manager Darwin Skelton indicate the airport should meet the 10,000 boarding number at the end of the year. Scottsbluff airport officials are once again holding their breath about gaining the 10,000 passengers needed to get a million dollars in airport improvement funding.
Airport Manager Darwin Skelton says if everything goes as planned, the airport should have 10,136 passengers. The projection is contingent on Great lakes Airlines meeting the 730 passengers in December they had last year. Great Lakes has well over 400 boardings to this point and Skelton believes as long as Great Lakes doesn't have canceled flights due to weather they can make the over 700 boardings expected.
Skelton says added boardings from Medical transport service Eagle Med, casino flights provided by Allegiant Airlines and from an educational visit involving nearly 300 school children earlier this month has helped.
