Gering man's suspicious death being investigated

The suspicious death of a 31-year-old Gering man early Friday morning is being investigated by Scottsbluff Police.

The Star Herald says 31 year old Clifford Latham died when he passed out after leaving Regional West Medical Center. Scottsbluff Police Capt. Brian Wasson said Latham, who refused treatment at the hospital after being transported from a Gering home, was traveling to a Scottsbluff house when he passed out.

Police and emergency personnel responded to the home and found Latham unresponsive at about 4:55 a.m. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Gering Police say a search of the Gering home by members of both police departments turned up nothing significant.

An autopsy was conducted but Wasson says a cause of death is pending toxicology tests.
