Raymond J. Lapp, 71
Funeral services for RAYMOND J. LAPP, 71, will be held at 10:30am Thursday, October 3, 2013 at the First Congregational Church with Reverend Matt Gordon officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. Raymond died September 28, 2013 at his home. Memorials may be directed to the First Congregational Church. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4pm to 7pm at the funeral home and the casket will be open at the church briefly prior to the service. Raymond was born February 21, 1942 in Lingle, Wyoming the son of Emil and Mary (Fuss) Lapp Sr. He grew up and received his education in the Goshen County area, graduating high school in Torrington in 1960. He was class president his senior year. He started farming when he was still in high school. He married Sharon K. Wagner of Worland, Wyoming on June 30, 1963 in Torrington. They started farming in Lingle and then moved to his present farm which he later bought and farmed there until his death. In 1969 he was named Outstanding Young Farmer by the Torrington JC's. He was a top 10 sugar beet producer for Holly Sugar for many years.
Raymond was a history buff especially military history. He was a member of the Rock Ranch Ditch Company where he served as president for many years. He loved his family and spending time with them, his friends, and especially his coffee buddies. Raymond was liked by all and never knew a stranger.
Raymond is survived by a son Randy Lapp of Torrington, Wyoming; a daughter Lynette Strecker and her husband Kevin of Morrill, Nebraska; grandchildren Ryan Lapp and his wife Kendra of Evanston, Wyoming, Jacob and Jessica Strecker of Morrill; and a great grandson Jackson Lapp of Evanston. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Sharon; two brothers Emil "Sonny" Lapp, Jr, and Bobby Lapp.
