Robert "Bob" Kraft, 77, Mitchell

Robert "Bob" Kraft, 77 of Mitchell died Tuesday, August 13, 2013 in Scottsbluff. His funeral service will be Saturday, August 17 at 10:00 AM at the Federated Church in Mitchell with Rev. Dr. Charles H. Richardson officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery with military graveside rites by the United States Navy. Bob was born June 23, 1936 in Scottsbluff to Dave and Eva (Homan) Kraft, the youngest of 11 children. He was baptized and confirmed in the Salem Congregational Church in Scottsbluff.

He served in the US Navy for four years and honorably discharged in 1958. On November 15, 1959 Bob and Dorothy Dittenber were united in marriage and some years later were blessed with a daughter, Trisha. Bob worked in the lumber retail business his entire career and with the exception of a few years, was a dedicated employee of Carr-Trumbull Lumber. He was an active member of the Federated Church and served on the board in various capacities. He was a member of the American Legion Post #124 and Life Member of the Elks.

Bob loved gardening and sharing his abundant crop with family and friends. He enjoyed reading, cooking, and carpentry. His grand-daughters loved the cradles and toy chests Papa made for them. He also enjoyed sports at all levels beginning with his grand-daughters basketball and soccer games and dance recitals. He was a Husker and Bronco fan.

Bob is survived by his wife of 53 years, Dorothy J. Kraft, his daughter, Trisha J. Foote, son-in-law Ryan Foote and two beautiful grand-daughters, Emma Elizabeth Foote and Ella Ryan Foote of Scottsbluff. Sisters Molly Abel and Betty (Willard) Schmer of Scottsbluff. Sister-in-laws Elsie(Kraft) Williams, Violet Kraft, Amelia Huber, Leah Dittenber, Lydia Reichert, Helen Foos, and Esther Green all of Scottsbluff, Katherine Buxman of Mitchell, Clara Schuldies of Torrington, and Freda Kraft of Seal Beach, CA.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, Henry and Elizabeth Dittenber. Brothers Dave, Fred, and Mike Kraft. Sisters Mary Kraft, Kate (Bill) Popp, Ruth (Bill) Meier, Pauline (Harold) Wamsley, Lydia (Henry) Schwartzkopf. In-laws Alex Reichert, Harold Foos, Clarence Buxman, Henry Schuldies, Reuben Green, Rhine Dittenber, Marie and Elmer Sthala.

Death leaves a heart ache that no one can heal. Death leaves a memory that no one can steal. Thanks Bob for all the memories.
