Pink valuation postcards to replace yellow for many landowners
Scotts Bluff County Assessor Amy Ramos says many of the county's landowners will get new valuation notices in the next couple days after the printing company somehow sent out over 5,000 incorrect notices.
Ramos told the county commissioners Monday evening the company flip-flopped the previous year's valuation and this year's valuation on a third of the yellow post cards mailed June 1st.
Ramos says because by state law a June 1st deadline has to be met to make the correct changes in valuation, the commissioners, acting as a Board of Equalization, had to take action Monday night prior to new postcards being mailed.
The pink postcards to be mailed Wednesday and Thursday will supercede the yellow cards received previously, and they will say Board of Equalization notice instead of change of valuation. Ramos says if you don't get a pink postcard, then the yellow postcard is correct.
Ramos says any questions can be answered by logging on to the assessor website or calling her office.
