First Student looking for school bus drivers

First Student, the private firm that is taking over transportation services for the Scottsbluff and Gering school districts, is looking for bus drivers this fall. Location manager Harold Stuart says they have hired 16 drivers that were previously drivers for the two districts, but need another nine or ten more.

Stuart says drivers need to have a clean driving record and pass a background check. Drivers will also receive free training to obtain the needed commercial drivers licensing. Stuart says if you already have a CDL, it makes the process a little easier.

Stuart says drivers are guaranteed at least 17 and a half hours a week, likely closer to 20 to 25 hours, at a rate of thirteen dollars an hour.
