Diana J. Keller, 79, Gering

Diana J. Keller, 79 of Gering, Nebraska passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at her home.

Her funeral service will be held on Friday, September 27, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Salem Congregational Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Dale Brown officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. Visitation will be Thursday from 9- 8:00 p.m. at Gering Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Festival of Hope. Diana Jane Keller was born January 23, 1934 in Denver, Colorado to Alex and Mollie (Ehrlich) Yakel. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She graduated from Gering High School in 1950. She married Melvin L. Keller June 29, 1952. They made their home in Gering.

Diana worked at the Gering Café for a number of years, cooked in the cafeteria at Westmoor and Longfellow Elementary Schools. She also worked at the Elks Lodge for many years.

She was a life- long member of the Salem Congregational Church, where she taught Sunday school and volunteered in their library and was active with the Family Circle Group. She enjoyed traveling to Ft. Laramie and having picnics with her family. She was a great artist and painter. Loved her gadgets and cooking. She loved her family and especially her grandchildren and her dogs Bingo and Minnie.

She is survived by her sons: Jeffrey (Stacey) Keller, Scottsbluff, Gregory (Lucienne) Keller, Lyman and Carey (Brenda) Keller, Scottsbluff; grandchildren: Tyson, Madison, Paige and Joshua all of Scottsbluff and Justin and Laurence of Lyman; great granddaughter Myah Keller; brother Jim (Virginia) Yakel of Holyoke, CO; sisters LaVera (Joe) Oberle of San Diego, CA and Beanie (Gary) Obermier of Julesburg, CO and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and grandparents.
