Fatal rollover on I-80 near Cheyenne
The unidentified driver of an eastbound vehicle on I-80 about 10 miles west of Cheyenne this morning died at the scene of a rollover accident around 9:40 Friday morning.
According to the Wyoming Highway Patrol, witnesses observed the 2002 Jeep Liberty drift toward the right lane at which time the it swerved to the left. That caused the vehicle to go into a broadside slide as it left the roadway going into the median where it then rolled two complete times coming to rest in the median.
Due to vehicle crush during the rollover, the unidentified male driver was partially ejected from the vehicle.
Troopers investigating this crash believe over correction of the vehicles steering and a tire failure were the contributing factors in this crash. Interstate 80 was closed temporarily while an Air-Life Helicopter landed on the Interstate to transport 1-year-old Maya Aleman-Saucedo of Kansas City, Kansas.
The Interstate reopened with one lane of traffic passing the crash scene for approximately 2 hours while Troopers investigated and cleared the crash scene. 22 year old Yessica Saucedo-Carrillo of Kansas City was transported by ground ambulance to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center.
