Chester "Chet" Hampton, 82, formerly of Scottsbluff
Chester "Chet" Hampton, 82, of Kearney and formerly of Scottsbluff, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. At his request there will be no public visitation or memorial service.
A private internment with family only will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to Chet Hampton Memorial Fund. Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff is in charge of the arrangements.
Chet was born in Cherry County, Neb. to Carlie C. and Cammie Ellen (Morrison) Hampton. He grew up in Cherry County, where he received his education. He spent the early part of his life working on ranches. Chet worked for a plumbing, heating, and electrical contractor in Ogallala, Neb. He then moved to Alliance, where he had a plumbing, heating, and electrical business. Chet moved to Scottsbluff and was in charge of the plumbing, heating, and electrical maintenance at Scottsbluff Public Schools. Chet married Delores (Higgins) Hampton in 1970. They resided in Terrytown then moved to Mitchell. He moved to Kearney, Neb. in the fall of 2011. Upon retirement he enjoyed fishing and square dancing.
Survivors include Carlie Hampton of Phoenix, Ariz.; Fred Hampton of Alliance; Rodney (Dixie) Hampton of Mitchell; Marla (Charles) Weber of Cozad, Neb., Brenda (Randy) of Mitchell; brothers, Bruce (Esther) Hampton of McCook, Neb.; Richard (Hilda) Hampton of McCook; sister-in-law, Lois Hampton of Hyannis, Neb.; aunt, Pauline Rector and 12 grandchildren.
Preceding Chet in death were his parents; three brothers; two sons, and his wife, Delores.
