Gering schools a month away from planning process

Gering School Superintendent Bob Hastings says a key strategic planning process will begin in April that will outline a three to five year action plan for the district.

Hastings discussed the plan with KNEB News Friday after assuring approximately 20 people from Cedar Canyon elementary, parents and staff, there will be no more surprises about what the district intends to do with their rural school. The district last year scaled back the school from a K-6 to K-4 school, something that came as a surprise to many Cedar Canyon patrons when it was announced last spring.

Hastings says the strategic planning process will be critical in determining what the district wants to accomplish in all phases of eduction moving forward.

Hastings says the strategic process will include all sectors of the community, including school staff, administrators, board members, parent, business leaders and students.
